This image depicts
a transit tower next to an LRT station.
The transit tower is a conventional
high-rise residential structure of 20
– 25
stories. The building elevator and roof-top (departure
station) are
public
property. The area surrounding the LRT
station is served in one direction
by a bus route or shuttle and in the
other by buses and cables. Note that the cost of such a subsystem is
minimal: The transit
tower
would be paid for by the building residents, and the bus service in
the
area could be simplified. How much more effective would the LRT be if
such a system existed at every station?
